In Family Dinner, Helen explores her memories of her time with her grandparents, who emigrated to England from Cyprus in the 50s. The film is seen through Helen's eyes, from the perspective of an eight-year-old child.
It features a ceramic ‘family’ and a set of hinged, skewered, and wheeled paintings. By subverting the conventional function of paintings and repurposing the traditional function of everyday spaces, Helen seeks to challenge our conventional understanding of the objects and rituals we are surrounded by.
